Biography - Factoid

When anyone ever says the name 'Hannibal Lecter' people instantly get the image of Anthony Hopkins being this cannibal in movies such as 'Silence of the Lambs' and of course everyones mind is put to rest because he's a fictional character (phew).

Or is he...

Actually the character of Hannibal Lecter is loosely based upon a real life person. His name is Albert Fish and he was an American serial killer, of course only his victims bones were ever found because he COOKED and ATE most of their bodies. However he had a soul. Most serial killers loose their sanity and do not feel remorseful for what they do.Fish did, he stuck 19 rusty needles as far into his genital region as he could to 'atone for his sins'. He also liked to be spanked on the bottom with a paddle with rusy nails sticking out of it. Yes he was remorseful and was deemed by doctors as sane. His lust for human flesh was just too strong. He preferred to hunt down children as they 'couldn't fight him off'' and only the thought of a young childs tender flesh aroused him.
I say loosely like Hannibal Lecter because this man retained his sanity, and humanity, but Albert Fish was a hundred times worse because he preyed on young innocent children.
